We are calling on Haitian President Michel Martelly and global leaders to immediately close the Son of God Orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti and launch an immediate investigation into Haiti's child welfare and social services agency, the IBESR (Institut du BienEtre Social et de Recherches).
Mounting evidence collected by the international rights organizations links human and organ trafficking cases directly to the Son of God orphanage in Carrefour, Haiti. After 15 months of working with the IBESR (Haiti's social services agency) children are still facing abuse, neglect, starvation, and trafficking.
Over 40 children are missing from the orphanage. The director was convicted of human trafficking by Haitian authorities after a police-led investigation. He attempted to sell a child from the orphanage to an undercover operative and was imprisoned this past July. Yet, the abuses continue at Son of God Orphanage and children are right now starving within the walls of this orphanage, and it must be stopped.
> International rights groups have compiled evidence linking organ and child trafficking cases back to the Son of God orphanage.
> There is documented evidence and photos of extreme physical abuse, neglect, and late stage starvation by Haitian and U.S. doctors.
Sadly, those charged with protecting these children have failed, and must be held to account by the highest authority in Haiti, President Michel Martelly.
Urge President Martelly and global leaders to:
1) Order an immediate close to the Son of God Orphanage and relocate the children to one of the orphanages that has already volunteered to take the children.
2) Conduct an immediate investigation of the IBESR's direct or indirect role in any human trafficking, organ trafficking, violence, neglect, or abuse at Son of God Orphanage.
Thank you for acting now on behalf of the 75 children currently living at the Son of God Orphanage who are in immediate, real danger at this moment.
Tell President Michel Martelly and other global leaders that Son of God must close, and those responsible for these abuses must face justice.
