Help Ban Horrifying Animal Abuse Videos in the Philippines

    1. Petition by

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

For the last year, PETA Asia has been working to expose and stop those behind a series of horrifying pornographic videos originating in the Philippines in which scantily clad girls as young as 12 are videotaped torturing animals. These snuff or "crush" videos typically depict the youngsters stepping, standing, and stomping on animals—from the smallest of ,mice to large dogs—and are made for a niche market of demented individuals all over the world. The videos are so heinous that the U.S. enacted a federal law to ban their sale just last year.

As a result of the year-long confidential investigation by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) Asia and the Filipino National Bureau of Investigation, a La Union woman and her husband have been charged with crimes related to the production of "crush" videos in which animals suffer excruciatingly painful deaths. The content of the videos associated with this case in the Philippines is truly sickening: They show young girls wearing skimpy clothes stomping on live animals, cutting the ears from screaming rabbits who are then set ablaze, repeatedly driving a sharp stiletto heel into the eye of a monkey, and other scenes so disturbing that we will spare you the details.

Dorma "Chita" Ridon and her husband, Vic Ridon, were charged with violating child abuse, animal welfare, human trafficking, and wildlife-protection laws. The couple fled when faced with the resulting media coverage, and arrest warrants for both suspects have been issued. PETA is offering PHP 100,000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects.
