“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” -Mahatma Gandhi

I grew up in India and live in the United States now. I still visit family in India about once a year, and my preferred airline is Air India when I go back. Now I need to reconsider, however.

I recently learned from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) that Air India continues to transport animals for animal testing. This is despite a previous statement that they would not support such cruelty. Now they say "Air India continues to carry live animals for experimental purposes."

Airlines including Jet Airways (very popular in India) as well as Korean Airlines and Qantas refuse to support cruel animal testing by having policies in place. Emirates, Singapore, Air Canada, China Airlines, and Lufthansa have also taken some steps to restrict shipping many animals used for experiments because they know the public does not want to support animal cruelty.

I encourage everyone to sign this petition asking Air India to please stop shipping animals for animal testing.

I believe animal testing is cruel and not in line with my preferred airline, Air India or the lessons of compassion am teaching my children.

Stop supporting animal testing

Air India is not acting responsibly by transporting animals for animal testing. When you make money from these deals, you are directly supporting cruel animal tests. Please stop.
