Currently, CCSU has decided that bringing students back in person is the safest option for students. With Omicron running rampant in the United States and Connecticut, we the students firmly disagree with returning back to school in person. We propose to follow what other colleges have done and gone 2 weeks virtually. Because many of our students are coming from different places coming from break we propose that residential students move in, but all classes are offered virtually for the beginning of the semester. It is very unsafe to intentionally create an infectious environment in the name of normalcy. Our students come in contact with more than just themselves. Family members, co-workers, and other members of vulnerable populations come in contact with our students on a regular basis and this decision impacts them as well. It is within everyone's best interest at CCSU and the surrounding community if the first two weeks of our semester are virtual, paying close attention to gatherings among students.
