When the Covid-19 pandemic began, people around world were forced to work and learn from home. Zoom became one of the primary modes of communication for workplaces and educational institutions alike. However, when disability rights advocates and the Deaf community asked video chat services to include free live closed-captioning, Zoom refused.

Competitors like Microsoft, Google, and Skype have all made this feature free while Zoom continues to deny access to education for thousands around the country and even more around the world.

There is no reason those who are deaf of heard of hearing should be denied the ability to participate in live classroom lectures and discussions, forced to read transcripts posted after the live session has already ended.

Sign this petition to show Zoom that you are dissatisfied with their ableism and denial of accessible education. Hold Zoom to the high standards of their competitors and request that they bring live captions from out behind the paywall.
