The purpose of this Petition is to demonstrate to the Town of Conesus Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals that the general public, including residents of the Town and other municipalities that surround Conesus Lake, strongly believe that the approval of the current “superstructure” at 5654 East Lake Road, the site of the former Conesus Inn, would be harmful not only to the nearby residents, but to the Town and to the Conesus Lake community generally.
The current structure was built with blatant disregard for the law, and complete indifference to the quality of the neighborhood, the Town, and the greater Conesus Lake area. The developer pulled a “bait and switch” by obtaining approvals for a smaller, less unsightly project, then completely ignored those approvals and built the monstrosity that sits on the site now.
When surrounding property owners pleaded with the developer to correct the violations, the developer refused, requiring the neighbors to apply for a court order stopping construction. The neighbors received this court order. The court concluded that the superstructure was being constructed illegally, and ruled that the developer had to go back before the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals to present the actual plans for review.
The individuals signing below submit that the developer should not be given permission to continue construction of this humongous eyesore that blights the Conesus Lakeshore. Rather, if the developer intends to build a restaurant at the site, it should be required to design a more aesthetically appropriate building, on a smaller scale. The superstructure that the developer is erecting cannot be considered a “lake oriented business.”
The below would like to thank the Planning Board and the Zoning Board of Appeals for their service to the Town and the Lake, and for the consideration of their requests.
