No one who lives in a residential neighborhood of Sag Harbor would accept this unsightly and noisy addition. Imagine how you would feel if this were to be built next to your home, on your street, or in your neighborhood. The Espresso Market was low-key, neighbor-friendly, and quiet. It was a communal place where neighbors, students, and working folks gathered — and it had a normal, flat roof. I feel sad that it is now gone. I feel shocked that the village is allowing this to replace it. I hope a solution will be found that will consider everyone's needs and concerns.

When I visit Sag Harbor, I'm spending time in a village and a community whose charm is enhanced by the respect shown to both its residents and its history. This sort of intrusive eyesore is antithetical to the animating spirit of this wonderful village.

One thing I love about Sag Harbor is it's historical beauty, and I thought that there were strict rules to keep our downtown historical and beautiful! We live in a museum and all who drive or walk around our village marvel at the untouched history and beauty. Once one person breaks this rule there will be others and our village will be plundered by the wealthy and their bad taste! The rich don't care about such things that hurt others. Someone bribed someone (which is a greedy and unethical crime)

Noise, food fumes in a residential neighborhood, lack of respect for zoning laws in a historic district.

I visit Sag Harbor often, to Henry Street in particular, and am appalled that a town would approve such mechanicals to be put on the roof of a quiet residential neighborhood.

I rent every summer on Henry St across from the former Espresso Mkt. I will take a rental somewhere else if the unsightly commercial roof equipment is not silenced. The summer will be ruined.
