Stop children being the victims of the plebiscite debate!

The same sex marriage debate in Australia is in full swing...again. Another plebiscite looming despite the Australian public and many MPs deeming it unethical and costly last time.
If the plebiscite ($122million non-binding vote) is to take place, I urge the Australian Government to place restrictions on using children as a pawn in the anti-gay marriage debate. Slogans such as 'the Stolen Generation', and falsified statistics on the incarceration, mental health and educational status of children from same-sex couples is not just damaging to the hundreds of children who have already been born to Rainbow families, but it is also based on lies and propaganda.
If the Australian Government deems it necessary to put this to a non-binding postal vote as opposed to doing their job and holding a legally binding parliamentary vote, the least it can do is ensure the messages being portrayed are factual and non-discriminatory, in effect protecting children from this debate and allowing adults to be the cornerstone of this decision.
