Longer lunches for ZHS students

Longer lunches for ZHS students
Zeeland Public School’s students and teachers simply need longer lunches. The previous year classes were 2 minutes shorter, this gave us a 40 minute lunch which was a perfect amount of time. With 30 minute lunches, upperclassman don’t have enough time to go off campus. Which means they need food from the cafeteria or cold lunch. With longer lines that means some students don’t get their food for 10+ minutes, on top of walking to class that gives some students only around 15 minutes of true lunch time to actually eat and socialize. With the same schedule we used last year we could have 40 minute lunches again which would allow upperclassmen to go off campus. With less people in the lunchroom that also gives less of a chance for Covid-19 to spread.
This isn’t just an issue for students, multiple teachers have complained about the shortened lunches some not even being able to finish eating before students showed up to class. On top of that with more time to eat at lunch students are less likely to have to eat something in the middle of class. The problem has an easy solution, and that is to return back to last years schedule.
