This petition has been created to gauge the real time local community interest in having our local council (Surf Coast Shire) upgrade our little playground in line with other local playgrounds. 

An initial petition, started in approx 2017-2018 was used to gather information about redeveloping the playground after council took over from the developers. 

In May-June 2020, an application was submitted and approved, by council requesting funding of approx $56k to redevelop the playground to better meet the needs of all of the entire local community, not just the toddlers it is was designed for.

Our initial plans (attached) included numerous new areas to encourage longer periods of play and also for different age groups to utilise the space. 

After a recent push, an on site meeting has taken place advising the representative that costing shave changed, due to Covid, trades are more difficult to get and there have been objections to a basketball pad. 

We, the Zeally Sands Community, disagree and would like to see the council re-develop our playground to meet the needs of all of our residents, not just toddlers to early primary school. This should be an open space where we can all get together and admire our local pocket of paradise.
