Hello,

You might like to help me in this!

As they are looking for a scientist to be depicted on the new £50 bank note I am very keen that they should have Joseph Swan who invented the incandescent electric light bulb.

Not only was he very clever to have done so, the impact of his work is of global significance and anyone, anywhere, at any time, can appreciate and understand this.

Although Newcastle-upon-Tyne University has honoured his contribution to society by naming their new scientific department after him I think he is a very worthy candidate for the new bank note.

If you agree with me please go to the this link which takes you to the Bank of England voting site.

Or vote for him here.

This is the reason I gave for nominating him -

'A British scientist is good on a British bank note, but he is of global significance. Imagine a world without electricity?  Consider all the inventions made possible as a result of him harnessing electricity?
Far too many people wrongly think it was the American, Thomas Edson!'

Let's keep the record straight.

So please vote for Sir Joseph Swan and pass this message around.

I hope you find the time to nominate someone really worthwhile!

Thank you

Alison
