At Yakima Valley College, 65% of the total student population is women. It is no secret that women face issues on campus that create barriers to their success, relationships, and education. Our team noticed a true lack in available support and resources for our women students. This revelation was primarily motivated by our own personal experiences. As a Domestic Violence Victim myself, I know the impact this can have on emotional and mental health which ultimately affects a student's performance and attendance in class.  We believe that implementing A Women’s Resource Center on campus could best meet this need.

The primary purpose of the WRC at YVC would be to educate on women’s issues, encourage individual goals, and eliminate barriers to education. We believe the three biggest barriers are experiencing intimate partner violence, having little or no access to childcare for student-parents, and a lack of a personal social network on campus.

Join us in raising awareness for a need that so many students on campus are experiencing. Your signature aids in creating a program that supports, strengthens, and serves our college women.
