Surviving Cruelty started this petition to Yulin dog festival and

We are Surviving Cruelty, a group of students from Humber College who believe in raising awareness about the dog meat trade and The Yulin Dog Festival, the biggest festival In Southwest China which glorifies the inhumane slaughter of 10,000 dogs every year. As a group we wish to create more awareness about the dog meat trade through multiple outlets and encourage people to get more involved with volunteer experiences.

According to The Humane Society the dog meat trade has existed for many centuries. Dogs are being stolen from owners, taken from the streets and are transported long distances. On the long journeys to their destinations which are usually to dog farms, many die from suffocation, dehydration or heatstroke. On these dog farms, millions of dogs are kept in tight spaces with little to no food or water. It is from these dog farms where they are sold and or kept to prepare for the Yulin Dog Festival according to Mirror News UK. It is the inhumane conditions and treatments of the dogs in the meat trade that really is a puzzling issue that needs to be addressed in a more serious manner.

Our group's goal or vision is to raise awareness on how to put an end to the dog meat trade and the Yulin Dog festival which promotes the consumption of dog meat. Specifically, we wish to create more awareness about the dog meat trade through multiple outlets and encourage people to get more involved with volunteer experiences. We have dogs as pet's and it is a very emotional feeling to know this is happening.
