Pave Waldo Road!
Pave Waldo Road!
We're tired of wash-boarding down Waldo Road! We want it paved! Yuba County spends a great deal of money grading and rocking this road, whereas, it could be paved which would mean: 1) lower maintenance costs; 2) better access for user groups of Spenceville Wildlife and Recreation Area; 3) better experience for commuters; 4) environmental improvements by eliminating the plumes of dust generated by traffic, and creating a better road for emergency vehicles and in case of needed evacuations (we're in a fire zone), plus 5) reduced expenses for citizens repairing their vehicles and trailers from the wear and tear of the horrible road.
The Board of Supervisors has to approve roads for paving, and not only do we need the road on the "to be paved list," but we need it prioritized! the Director of Public Works, Dan Peterson, has declined our request to have a traffic count on the road. We believe the Supervisors have no idea how many people traverse the road, and the traffic count is the only way to measure that!
Now that the Federal Government is spending on infrastructure, Yuba County officials have no excuse for not paving this 1.8 miles.
Sign our petition, and come on out to Waldo Road to check it out. We will have a booth at the corrals on Friday, May 14th, from 3 pm - 7 pm; and Saturday, May 15, from 9 am - 3 pm. We hope to get a lot of support from commuters on Friday, and from user groups on Saturday.
We could use help staffing the booth, and we need photos and videos that show how bad the road is. A video showing the dust plumes, as people race up the road; one from the cab to show how bumpty the road is, maybe one taken in a horse trailer, to show how bad the road is for our equines.
