Picture this, you've put a lot of work into building a YouTube channel that all of your viewers will enjoy. You play games, you spend time with your viewers, and you have fun. One day, you go to check on your analytics and find most of your videos plastered with copyright claims. Why do you have copyright claims? There was music in a game you were playing, and the developer did not include the option to turn off the music.

Copyright claims are a real problem for creators who are just doing their best. Music in the game is not always something we can control. Sometimes the developers don't allow us to turn it off , so we can only turn it down as far as the program allows. That doesn't appear to matter to YouTube. If they think they hear music in your video, you are stuck with a copyright claim. It doesn't matter if you can control it. In the long term, these copyright claims can damage perfectly legitimate creators.

We have to stop this before all of the creators give up. If people are being punished for putting out honest content, no one is going to want to do it anymore. In some cases, copyright claims makes sense. If someone is trying to steal another person's work, yes, that person deserves to be punished. If someone is playing a game that contains music they can't control,  they should not be stuck with a copyright claim.

So what can you do to help? Sign this petition and let YouTube know that we are tired of being punished for circumstances that are out of our control. We can't get the complete tracklist for every game we play. That is an always available . We also can't tell the developers how to build their games. We can't force them to add a turn the music off button. We just have to work with what we have. YouTube, cool it with the pointless copyright claims. Let creators do their best work. Stop punishing us for things we can't always control.
