YouTube's algorithm (especially related to copyright claims, safety and monetization) is far too strict on creators. Many creators are getting their videos taken down for unfair reason, getting demonetized for restrictions that shouldn't exist, and many people are losing jobs and money because of this. The recently instated COPPA (Children's Online Privacy and Protection Act) was instated for good reasons: The protection and safety of minors on YouTube. And copyright laws have been around since the late 18th century. However, how YouTube's algorithm deals with these problems is not okay. The algorithm continues to take down videos by creators that are strictly following guidelines and doing nothing wrong. Another problem is that larger creators are not experiencing the majority of these problems. That however is another can of worms. There are many instances of these problems. For example the creator: iLL WiLL PrEss, a channel with around 500,000 subscribers, has experienced these problems severely. He has been making short animated videos that are targeted towards older audiences for many years. And for years has been strictly following YouTube's guidelines. But regardless, he recently got nearly half of his 2,000 videos taken down. He is one of many who have experienced these problems. And a lot of people are getting the short end of the stick on this. The other problems, regarding copyright and monetization claims, also have effected creators severely. One video titled "Star Wars Minus Williams -Throne Room" (Which depicts a scene from one of the Star Wars movies but without the score by Mr. John Williams) was given a monetization offense for using John William's music. Are you starting to see a problem? Many creators have also been greatly impacted by this problem, probably even more so than that of COPPA. These problems that make up the YouTube algorithm are causing many more problems than they are solving. The algorithm needs to be around for safety and legitimate copyright offence. But it is hurting creators. And it needs to change.
