A  group of Environmental Organizations around Sri Lanka recently joined forces to create a feasible youth statement for this year's United Nations Conference of Youth (COY). We have highlighted seven key areas that we believe require immediate action:

1. Deforestation in Sri Lanka
2. Nature based solutions for ecosystem restoration and biodiversity conservation 
3. Ocean and Marine Life Preservation 
4. Implementing Sustainable Cities, especially by curtailing air pollution, as well as food and waste management 
5. Urban Heat Island Phenomenon in Colombo Metropolitan Area and its affect on Loss of Biodiversity and Habitat 
6. Consumerism in light of E-waste and plastic pollution 
7. Cultivation and Climate Change

In order to ensure that the youth statement is as inclusive and reflects the needs of Sri Lanka as a whole, we require as many people to pledge with the statement.
