STOP DICTATING WHAT WE NAME OUR TEAMS!

STOP DICTATING WHAT WE NAME OUR TEAMS!

At this years AGM a rule was placed dictating that we MUST name our teams by colour and not anything else.
The issue with this;
1) The colours used in this league hold connotations to the standard of the team, I.e; Blues - 1st, Reds - 2nd… Whilst not a rule this has been the perceived case as it was once upon a time a rule. The connotations were accepted by the league secretary in correspondence but said that’s clubs decision to believe it. The Standard Code states teams MUST NOT have named relating to standard - e.g. A,B,C.
2) Choosing team names is great fun for the kids when they start at our club. They enjoy doing it and get to then earn some identity towards their team! Many teams have training shirts printed with their team name and many an end of season managers gift has shown the name!
We have appealed this absurd rule to the County FA. We are for the kids, for the sport. Barriers like this are unnecessary and are spitefully aimed at us after we refused to rename last year as no rule was in place.
The more support we can muster, the more chance we have of having our case accepted. This is not a case of names anymore. It’s a case of discrimination as we see this league forcing these coloured names we also see the “lesser” teams connoted by these colours folding because of the preconceived notions.
Every child should be able to play football where they want, without a thought of “I must be in the Blues”.
Please support us and prove that football isn’t about power hungry adults arguing due to a personal dislike but about the kids in this game and love playing their sport under their team identity.
