19% of New York residents have a gun, that's a lot considering 8.38 million people live in New York. Hundreds of those people live in Jamaica. We were born and raised in New York City. We and all of our families move throughout the city for either work, education, or for some family time. ‌ The ‌city that we and our family should feel safe in isn't the safest place I expected. As the days go by, New York City's crime rates have skyrocketed and its streets have become more dangerous. For example, a man was stabbed multiple times a few days ago, and the suspects are still on the loose. One might argue that crimes in New York City are regular and have been continuing for ages. However, they fail to realize that due to the neglect of being proactive in preventing crimes, New York City’s crime rates have increased. This issue calls for more present police officers from that neighborhood, finding employment for financially struggling people, stricter gun laws, more functioning high-quality security cameras, and having our community work with law enforcement.
