Why this petition matters

What can we do as a community to stop homelessness from spreading? Being homeless is affecting our youth and families. Because people need something to eat and  they need a roof over their heads so we are being needed to help those in need and to give them enough attention so that the amount of homelessness around New York can be reduced. In New York City, there is a major issue with an increasing amount of homeless people living in the streets in horrible conditions, because they don’t have money , food , or even a place to go. Some may argue that it's foolish to depend on the public sector to “fix” the problem of homelessness when it isn't their concern. This is a formal purpose to create donations such as materials and augment the Medicaid and behavioral health funding, and most importantly provide social services to homelessness.

In New York City, there is a major issue with an increasing amount of homeless people living in the streets in horrible conditions because they don’t have money, or materials for it. Therefore, this is causing homeless people to not have a good living lifestyle and be surrounded in dangerous areas with no food, clothes, or a home. Additionally, by examining homelessness it has become a major in America. Tens thousands of Americans are left living out in the streets, trapped in a cycle of poverty rendering them unable to find a steady livelihood. New York has approximately 91,000 living without shelters (ALCE,2019). Currently, this is creating an impact of the amount of homelessness increasing instead of creating a way of preventing this to keep going. This is significant because poverty has been becoming something that not many people have been focusing on, so if the only choice is to create more programs or donations then it Has to be done. For example, in a city of more than eight. 3 million people, nearly one and every 106 New Yorkers is homeless, that’s nearly 80,000 men, Woman, and children, every night nearly 2400 people sleep on the street, in the subway system or in other public spaces, however the vast majority of New Yorkers experiencing homeless this spend the night within the city shelter system where they remain unseen.(The Bowery Mission, 2021). Therefore, this is stating , The bad that this is bringing into our society that isn’t being fixed, which can later on become a bigger problem. This is consequential because, the lack of homeless people being left in the streets and aren’t given attention is not decreasing but is most likely going to continue growing. Overall, it’s important to keep in mind that as a society we should come together to help one another and create an impact on changing the amount of homeless people living in the streets.

We request that a fraction of the funds set for sanitation be set in the NYC budget to provide New Yorkers who are homeless have access to sanitation to help provide good health towards homeless people. Currently , There are over $1,537,765 ,000 dollars all located to sanitation department in New York City, and unfortunately many homeless New Yorkers are not taking care and are living in tough situation due to the lack of income it’s creating an increase amount of people living in the streets with no use of help. Are that being said, supportive housing is by far the most successful way to end homelessness for individuals and families living with disabilities and other challenges reduce use of shelters, hospitals, psychiatric centers, and incarceration raising real estate values for properties located closest to supportive housing developments (Coalition for Homelessness,2021). This is why creating more ways from having people living in the streets is giving them the opportunity of having a place to be and with materials they need. This is significant because, creating a change in our community and help homeless people around the world to live a better lifestyle for them is better than not doing anything at all. Therefore, we need to take immediate steps to provide appropriate services and support that enable people to exit homeless shelters more quickly and easily, or avoid them in the first place. We need to equip all street outreach teams and flexibility to branch on shelter individuals, also that long term vision that’s shifts resources to performance affordable housing and reduces the number of people who are homeless(New York Council,2019). Therefore, this is creating a solution on how we can all come together to create a safe environment for all people who need it. This is consequent Because, creating a more reasonable and safer way for all homeless people to have a place to stay and be protected is creating an impact on decreasing the amount of people who don’t have homes. Generally speaking, we have to come to action to create a difference on how to decrease the amount of homelessness around the world and encourage people that we can create a change.

To reiterate, homelessness around New York City streets has created an increase in people without homes, which is affecting many people. A way to solve this issue that the community would gladly appreciate is provide more shelters, social services, and more medical care for our people. Part of our civic duty is to take action by helping one another to find a living space and having everyone be able to live in a healthy living environment without having to worry if they can survive. We are all a community, right now people are in desperate need of help in living lifestyle, supplies and many more resources. I know with your support we can dramatically improve these current conditions.
