No Poverty in 2030

No Poverty in 2030

The Issue

Fact and Figure:

  • According to the latest recent estimates, 734million people, or 10% of the world's population, lived on less than $1.90 per day in 2015.
  • Southern Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa are anticipated to see the greatest increases in severe poverty as a result of the pandemic, with an extra 32 million and 26 million people living below the international poverty line, respectively. Over the previous decade, the proportion of global workers living in extreme poverty has decreased by half, from 14.3% in 2010 to 7.1% percent in 2019.
  • Even before covid-19, baseline prediction showed that 6% of the world's population will still be in extreme poverty in 2030, falling short of the goal of eradicating poverty. The pandemic's aftermath threatens to force more than 70 million people into poverty.

Goal Target!!!

  • Eliminate severe poverty for all people worldwide by 2030, which is presently defined as those living on less than $1.25 a day. Reduce the proportion of men, women, and children of all ages living in poverty in all aspects by half by 2030, according to national standards.
  • Implement a nationally suitable social protection system and measures for everyone, including floors, by 2030, and ensure that the impoverished and vulnerable are adequately protected. By 2030, guarantee that all men and women, especially the poor and vulnerable, have equitable access to economic resources, including basic services, land ownership and control, inheritance, natural resources, suitable new technologies, and financial services, including microfinance.
  • Build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations by 2030, and minimize their exposure to climate-related severe events, as well as other economic, social, and environmental shocks and catastrophes.  ensure considerable resource mobilization from a range of sources, including improved development cooperation, to provide enough and reliable means for developing nations, particularly least developed countries, to undertake programs and policies aimed at ending poverty in all its forms. To promote faster investment in poverty eradication initiatives, establish strong policy frameworks at the national, regional, and international levels, based on pro-poor and gender-sensitive development policies.
