Did you know that extreme sports are actually safe? Even though for many years, many people believe that extreme sports are highly dangerous and very risky, it is actually very safe and not dangerous. No only that but it brings benefits to the athlete, and brings big impact on the world and on society in general. Thus, extreme sports are worth the risk.

My first reason is that extreme sports are not dangerous and they are actually safe.  I have 3 layers of analysis for this. First of all, many athletes who do these extreme sports wear safety gear and special suits to keep them safe. For example, divers wear a special type of swim wear to keep their temperature just right so that they don't die. This is a very important thing, thus every athlete (except professionals in some sports) wears these kinds of suits and clothes. Second of all, every athlete has to train for a long time before they do the extreme sport. For example, climbers who want to climb Mount Everest, have to train for at least 10 YEARS before they can try to climb Mount Everest. Many athletes are fully prepared before they do the extreme sport. Thirdly and lastly, there are rescuers to help and save people. Many of these rescuers are the most highly trained, best equipped athletes. They are able to do most if not every extreme sports and can save people from any situation possible. This shows that people who want to do extreme sports do not even need to worry at all because they wear safety gear, practice, and if those two fail, there are rescuers to save the athletes in case of a emergency.

Secondly, extreme sports gives many benefits to the athlete. I have 2 levels of analysis of this. Firstly, psychological benefits. What do I mean by this? Psychological benefits are benefits that are given to the mind/personality. Extreme sports bring benefits like, a increase in team building/bonding in some sports, a increase in confidence and self-esteem, belonging, etc. I see that this is extremely important because if they don't have those skills, a person might not survive in society. Secondly, health benefits. Health benefits are things like a good workout, a healthy body, a diet etc. Both health and psychological benefits both contribute to Marslow's hierarchy of needs. The goal of the Marslow's hierarchy of needs is to get people motivated and wanting to do something. Extreme sports has all of the levels of Marslow's Hierarchy of needs. We can tell this because many athletes in the extreme sport category are very motivated to achieve a certain goal and they always try again and persevere to reach the goal.

Now thirdly and lastly, extreme sports could have a big impact on the world and the society in general. I have 2 distinct levels of reasoning for this. First of all, it can help humans find out more about the Earth. Every year, scientists are finding new rocks, animals, plants and much more. Many of these new discoveries are found by using extreme sports. For example, underwater divers find new species of marine animals every year by doing extreme sports. Secondly, extreme sports can show warn/show people things that can not normally be seen. For example, underwater photographers can take pictures of the damaged coral reefs and they share it with society to show people the damage we did. If this happens the number of people taking action would be higher. If you care about the future of the world, then you should care about extreme sports.

Some people believe that extreme sports is very dangerous due to the malfunctions/accidents that can cause injury/death. However, this is wrong because these malfunctions/accidents are not likely to happen if athletes prepare well. To add on, athletes are not forced to do these extreme sports a d it is their choice to to extreme sports. Most athletes know the risk of extreme sports thus extreme sports is not that dangerous. I believe that this is why all of the misconceptions about extreme sports are false and that even if these misconceptions are true, they are not likely to happen.

So all in all, extreme sports is worth the risk because it is firstly safe, it has many benefits to the athlete and it can have a big impact on the world. I strongly believe that you should do extreme sports because it is very beneficial to the world. If we start changing our mindsets, then our world would be a better place in general. We need to care and think about why extreme sports are not truly dangerous.
