Petitioning MWSS Chairman Ramon Alikpala

You owe us more than 6 billion pesos. Give our money back.

Maynilad Water Services, Inc. and Manila Water Company owe us at least P6 billion, and growing.  For the past years up to now, water concessionaries are overcharging us consumers an increasing percentage on top of our regular water bill.  Up to this date, our current water bill is being charged 135% more than it should.

Through the approval of Manila Waterworks and Sewage Systems (MWSS), Maynilad and Manila Water are allowed to continue to swindle money from us. The money taken from us is supposed to pay for projects (for the Laiban Dam and Angat Dam Irrigation Replacement) that they did not carry out.

According to Articles 315/316 of the Revised Penal Code and Presidential Decree No. 1689, what MWSS is doing is a form of Syndicated Estafa.  As they embezzle more money from us, many water consumers are burdened to find ways to meet ends meet.  Unfortunately, the burden gets to be too great that many are denied of this basic human need/right that they have to resort to using unsanitary sources of water (from polluted rivers or even canals).  Access to potable water is our human right.

This is a call out to MWSS to end this estafa and give us our money back.
