Why this petition matters

Started by Delaney Grijalva

Hello my name is Delaney Grijalva. My self and two of my other friends Carolyn Tran, and Gabriela Nieves are doing our 8th grade community project. The main point of the project is to give back to our community in some sort of way. As a way to give back we decided to donate menstrual products to local women's shelters. We choose this topic because it is something that isn't talked about in society and we want to change that. The global feminine product market is projected to witness a compound annual growth rate of 6.7% during the forecast period of 2021- 2026 making it even more difficult for women and young girls to have access to these products. Almost each month young girls and women have to choose whether they want a hot meal or menstrual products when they shouldn't have to choose. We are trying to address this need to many people by getting product donations but we would also like the help from you as well as of November 2020 Scotland became the first country to provide tampons and sanitary pads to anyone who needs them. Scottish labor MSP Monica Lennon led the effort through the Period Products Free Provision Scotland Bill, and we are trying to fight to make period products free in Livermore and eventually push further out to someday make it all of Alameda County. We need your help, so by signing this petition you're helping us get one step closer to making menstrual products more affordable for women and young girls Thank you so much for your time and consideration, we hope you sign the petition!
