Square Enix: Bring the 'Final Fantasy' Pixel Remasters to Consoles

On Sunday, June 13th, 2021, Square Enix announced that they would be releasing "pixel remasters" of the first six games in the Final Fantasy franchise on Steam, iOS, and Android. Missing from the announcement was any mention of ports for Sony's PlayStation, Microsoft's Xbox, or Nintendo's home/handheld hybrid console, Switch.
Almost immediately, RPG fans around the world were asking "Where's the console release?" a sentiment that has not let up since. Visiting virtually any post on official Final Fantasy social channels will show comment after comment asking "consoles when?" on any post related to these titles.
On a questions page on their Japanese site, the company stated that if there were enough requests, they would try and bring the games to other platforms. They're looking for demand, so it's time we show them how many of us want to make this a reality.
Having a game on more platforms is great for consumer choice, but it's also important to respect the legacy of Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy I, II, and III were originally released for the Famicom in Japan, with IV-VI released on the Super Famicom. I, IV, and VI were ported to America, though the numbering was changed to I, II, & III. Bringing these games to consoles, especially Switch, would mean that some would have the opportunity to play all six original games on a Nintendo platform for the first time.
