0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,500!

Deepak Kabir was part of peaceful protest on 19th and he got arrested on 20th of November when he went to inquire about missing protestors.

He was beaten brutally and met with third degree treatment by policemen and sent to jail under serious criminal charges, his family was denied any information till 2 days about his whereabouts.

He is a well known progressive writer, poet and human rights activist, who has contributed so much over a decade to preserve the cultural values of city of Lucknow and spreading communal harmony, by organizing some of the biggest cultural events in the city like – Dastak, Kabir Festival and is part of multiple progressive forums.

He is slapped with serious charges of instigating violence, rioting and attempt to murder, destruction of public property, which is in sharp contrast to what he stands for,  in his social media post  before his arrest, he stated-

There are thousands of students, writers, artists and intellectuals who will testify to the fact that Deepak kabir believed in power of democratic and PEACEFUL ways of protest and people’s movements.

Sign this petition because his arrest is completely unconstitutional!

Sign this petition because Deepak kabir has been targeted on purpose,  for being a fearless voice that keeps the courage of speaking the truth, even if it means loosing his own freedom!

People, who met him in jail including his partner and comrade Veena, said that his face was bruised and it was evident that he was tortured, and still he was worried about the young students detained for being part of a peaceful protest.

Our right to freedom, right to speech, right to protest and right against exploitation are in serious danger and Deepak kabir was one of those who were fighting for that, its time that we stand together and demand his release!
