In the class of 2020, we have students that are the first in their family to receive a high school diploma, the first to go to a university, even the first to live in this country. Regardless of status, each and every one of these graduating seniors has worked incredibly hard to achieve their personal success, and that deserves to be celebrated. In these uncertain times, I understand that a typical graduation ceremony is not a guarantee. However, there are steps that can be taken in order to achieve some degree of normalcy in this event, some examples being a socially-distant graduation, a postponed graduation date, or even multiple graduation dates for smaller portions of students. Whatever the case, I encourage you to seek options outside of the virtual realm in order to guarantee a personal and somewhat-traditional experience, something that every member of the class of 2020 deserves.
