Problem
The elevator in Rubin Hall has been out of service for the residents since Friday, November 30th. Being the only elevator, it's use is crucial for all residents, specifically for those on higher floors, to get to and from their room speedily, in order for them to be on time for classes. At times when it isn't crucial, it's important for the residents to get what they paid for, the elevator being apart of the building plan.

Additionally, the building being a public space on the main and lower floor, it is essential for the elevator to work for those who can't physically go down and/or up the stairs. Those in wheelchairs have to go around the entire Belfer Hall to get onto the ground level floor.

Solution
In desperate need and want of the elevator use, we, as residents in Rubin Hall are asking for 50% off housing payment per day.
(There are approximately 9 1/2 months in the school year, which comes out to around 285 days. Payment for a shared (2 person) bedroom is $8,500. = approximately $30 a day.
For everyday day (After the first 24 hours) that the elevator hasn't worked, we are asking for $15 off our housing bill.)
If compensation for housing isn't possible, we ask to get it in some form of YU billing.
