Start a JROTC program at Yelm High School

I want to try and get YHS to start an Army JROTC program. JROTC stands for Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and they teach a lot of important things like first aid and leadership, navigation, finance, diversity, nutrition, service to the community, military history, American flag knowledge, public speaking, and much more. They have pellet rifle teams, color guard, physical fitness teams, and drill teams, and an academic goal team. They also have military members come in and give presentations to the students so they can help you find the right job for you in the military or out. They go to competitions and and have a chance to earn trophies and go to other JROTC visits, go to parades and field trips to JBLM, rappelling, and community service projects, they have higher opportunities to earn scholarships and/or to enter into the military at a higher rank. It would be nice to have a JROTC to cover events such as Veterans Day activities, prairie days, Christmas parades, presenting and raising the flag at sporting events. All of which should have a color guard. Events like Veterans Day assemblies are military recondition events and should have military color guards. The Army supplements materials, teacher pay, supplies and uniforms even technology as to not put an added burden onto the school district. If you want to know more please comment on this post or message me or you can search the Army JROTC website for more info. Please share this post so we can get this wonderful program started and be the first in Thurston county.
