Mount Dandenong Tourist Road and Mountain Highway are increasingly becoming sites for illegal dumping. Everything from couches, beds, household waste and now toxic chemicals have been thrown onto the roadside and down into the bushland by people who have no care for the environment or that of local residents. The waste is costly to remove and can also be highly dangerous to both wildlife and residents. 
These two roads are both major routes into and out of the Dandenong ranges and it is a tragedy that they are seen as an easy option for people who are not prepared to deal with their waste properly and legally. 

We believe that the Shire of Yarra Ranges should take urgent steps to provide monitoring (i.e. covert cameras or similar) in conjunction with organizations such as the EPA/VicRoads in an effort to stop what is becoming a highly dangerous practice in the Dandenong Ranges.
