Why this petition matters

Started by Aaron Bryan

The purpose built dog park located at Forsyth Road and Perennial Drive, Truganina urgently requires a permanent water fountain inside the park. Dogs are incredibly active animals and require high levels of hydration during rigorius exercise whilst visiting the park.

However for some reason the park was not equipped with a hydration station which can service upwards of 15 plus dogs that use the park at any one time.

Currently, dog owners are tasked with the tedious job of physically exiting the park to fill a large plastic bottle at another water fountain located within the childrens playground area, and then return to the park with a heavy bottle of water. A small metal bowl located inside the park can then be filled manually for the animals to ensure they have water. It is unknown who supplied the bottle and bowl but this solution can only ever be a temporary measure given the lack of hydration infrastructure an high demand for water.

Busy days at the park requires multiple trips to the water fountain with this large bottle. As earlier stated, this bottle when filled can get heavy and it is not a viable solution for the long term. There are many dog owners who simply may not be able to perform such duties due to physical constraints placing them at a disadvantage from using the park.

Therefore it is requested that Wyndham Council consider installing a permanant water fountain as found in other purpose built off lead dog parks throughout Wyndham (Vibrandia Way, Truganina as the closest example to this particular area). This would assist keeping dogs hydrated and healthy during high levels of exercise, and eliminate the requirement of manual intervention of dog owners to retreive water from outside the facility.

This small yet very important piece of infrastructure will make a huge difference to the park and that of the dogs and owners alike.

The petition will be forwarded to the Wyndham City Council for consideration upon receiving as many signatures of support as we can.
