We do not want Police Officers with GUNS at WWP School Regional District
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
The WW-P Administration has plans to have a Class III police officer in each school building. These officers will carry guns, they will have absolute police officer authority, will be dressed in a uniform and will walk around the schools. Each school will have one shift of police Class III officers, except for the High Schools that will have 2 shifts.
Class III officers mean that they are retired police officers, however, underwent training in NJ. The fact that they are retired means from a payroll perspective that no benefits need to be paid to them. However, from a payroll perspective they will be earning an hourly salary that could add to more than a half million dollars a year. This money could very well be used instead to hire more counselors for the schools and fund educational programs that can be more useful and productive, or be returned to tax payers.
Some parents in the community feel uncomfortable knowing that guns will be seen by our children every day in the schools. If you agree please sign this petition.
All accumulated signatures will be presented to the members of the BOE on Tuesday May 15.
