Animal poaching is the act of illegally killing animals and using them for trade. Their skin, teeth, horns, etc are used for making cosmetics , various ornaments, clothes, wool, leather, house and wall decor, etc.

The products vary from country to country, and thus infinite number of species are in the mouth of extinction. You will be astonished to know that more than 99% of species that ever existed on our planet amounting to about five billion in number are estimated to have died out. Only about ten to fourteen million species are known to exist of which  86% are undescribed.

ELEPHANTS : Despite a ban on the international trading, traders posses a major threat to the african elephants for ages to poach them for ivory, China being the biggest consumer market. The ban on international trade was introduced by CITES in the year 1989 after years of unprecedented poaching. They have reported to about one lakh death of elephants every year due to poaching.

RHINOCEROS : Rhino poaching has been escalated in recent years and is being driven  by the demand of horns in Asian and African countries; for two-horned rhinos in Vietnam and South Africa and for single horned, poaching is done in India, horns of single horned rhinos being stronger.

These are some of them I have experienced and felt for. Surely there are many other animals who are in actual need of defence from poaching.
