Preserving Biodiversity By Protecting Forest And Wildlife Species
Life on land is magnificent. Human life depends on the earth as much as the oceans for our sustenance and livelihoods. Forest covers covers 30.7% of the earth's surface and forests are home to more than 80%of land-based species. This ecosystem allow us to eat, breath and live. Almost 2 billion people are generating income and food through forest resources.
Currently, wildlife species are facing extinction in Malaysia and across the globe. Every extinction event results in a loss of biodiversity. Deforestation is happening in high rate. Every year we are losing 13 million hectares of forest. Deforestation is particularly a vital threat to wildlife because forest constitutes a major source of biodiversity on land. Besides that, the world is losing its precious biodiversity due to poaching and wildlife trafficking. Deforestation lead to land degradation, desertification, climate change and loss of wild animal habitats whereas, poaching and wildlife trafficking lead to wildlife extinction.
The conservation of forest and wildlife can also contribute towards economic development of communities around the world. Safety steps and efforts are being taken in order to manage forest sustainably for betterment of the future. We have to focus and create awareness in combating desertification, reversing land degradation, ending animal trafficking, protecting biodiversity and natural habitats. If these resources aren't used in a sustainable way, it reduces the access that future generations have to the resources. We have to be aware that we are killing our earth and its inhabitants. Let's unite together to fight against this as every living species deserves a better life.
