Canadian Academics for Covid Ethics started this petition to World Leaders

As scientists, scholars, professionals, and people from all walks of life, we are deeply concerned about the ongoing mismanagement of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic response. Based on a comprehensive evidence-based analysis presented in the Canadian Covid Care Alliance's COVID-19 Declaration, https://www.canadiancovidcarealliance.org/media-resources/canadian-covid-care-alliance-covid-19-declaration/ we demand that governments and public health officials take the following actions:

1. Revoke all emergency declarations and commit to reinstating civil liberties and all parliamentary, judicial, health, and other societal principles and procedures to the level in effect prior to the declaration of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic

2. Develop out-patient treatment guidelines for COVID-19, recognize natural immunity, and promote healthy lifestyles

3. Pause COVID-19 vaccination of children, young adults, and pregnant women pending completion of long-term safety studies, and ensure comprehensive adverse event reporting and adequate compensation for injuries sustained from the voluntary vaccination of other groups

4. Revoke COVID-19 vaccine mandates and passports, and end general mask mandates

5. Respect the privacy of personal medical information and restore the fully informed consent process for all medical interventions

6. End national and international travel restrictions

7. Refrain from future lockdowns and from the quarantining of healthy people

8. Involve a diversity of expert opinions in public discourse and on public health advisory committees

Most of the pandemic measures imposed since March 2020 were never subject to formal cost-benefit analyses, making it impossible to know whether they actually helped or caused disproportionate harm. Complex systems require measured, strategic, and adaptive solutions. It is irrational to base the response to an extended global crisis on only a few sweeping strategies such as stay-at-home orders, mask mandates, and a mass vaccination campaign. This is particularly disturbing since effective pandemic plans were in place and effective treatment options for COVID-19 exist.

We urge world leaders to return to evidence-based, targeted, and sustainable public health measures and to encourage healthy people to live a normal life without fear of each other. We also call on journalists to stop perpetuating outdated narratives and start asking more thorough questions of public health officials and health scientists. Our communities need to reverse the new and growing divisions between people and re-unite to overcome this crisis.
