The name of Earths's moon is name is "Moon". Pretty bland. Other moons of the various planets in the solar system are named after roman gods or deities, so why can't Earth's moon be named something like that? Some possible names I came up with are Quirinus, Acis, or Portunis. With enough signatures we could possibly reach government officials and get the Moon's name changed to something not so bland. Young children could get mixed up and ask what other floating rocks around other planets are called, and don't know that they are also moons. Some children are already confused, research in the Suwannee and Gilchrist counties in Florida provides evidence children are confused. Anthropologists in 15 schools across Suwannee and Gilchrist found that 178 out of 200 kids from K-6 didn't know that Saturn and Uranus's moons were called moons, and that the only "moon" was Earth's moon. Thats 89% of kids! More research in Lincoln county of Nebraska found that 82 out of 100 middle school aged kids didn't know other planets moons were moons. 82% of kids in middle school! This is a problem and needs to be fixed fast! The kids of American are getting confused and that is bad! Kids need to be properly educated with no confusion. The name of our moon is confusing children and needs to be stopped! The only way is to change the name of our moon, so the next generation of kids will grow up smarter.
