Stop Animal Captivity

Stop Animal Captivity
Why this petition matters
I want to solve animal captivity, mainly in Marineland but also across Ontario. The animal captivity at Marineland is a serious issue, especially with one of their orcas Kiska. Marineland is facing legal complaints about Kiska the orca. They’re breaking the law by subjecting the orca to conditions that don’t meet her physical and mental needs. Animal justice states Kiska was captured in Iceland in 1979 when she was 3 years old before Marineland purchased her. Over time her other companions either died or moved to other facilities. Kiska has lived without other orca companions since 2011. She holds the cruel distinction of being the only captive orca in North America held in social isolation from any other marine mammal. I think it's really important for enforcement agencies to take this issue seriously, and it's necessary and appropriate to do what they can to help Kiska. Spreading the news about Kiska will benefit her and hopefully get more attention on this issue. The best option is to convert to an animal-free attraction. This is a major problem that should've been solved a long time ago. Animals don't deserve to be trapped in cages for the rest of their life. This will impact the lives of animals greatly and also the community.
