Francesca Powell started this petition to World Animal Protection

Internationally, roughly 250,000 animals are abused every year and 2.7 million die due to being abused and neglected. Animal Cruelty and mistreatment is present nationwide. In order to prevent this type of mistreatment, ALL countries (and their citizens) need to be aware of the injustice of animal cruelty.

Scientific research, abandonment, and mistreatment are the main reason why these animals are neglected each day. The law states that the act of seriously harming an animal could result to up to 2 year maximum in prison + fines. On good behaviour, these MURDERERS will be out in 6 months. Do you think this will stop them from doing the same thing to innocent animals? The strict answer is no.

Furthermore, in the US currently 46 of the 50 states have enacted felony penalties for certain forms of animal abuse. However, in most jurisdictions, animal cruelty is most commonly charged as a misdemeanour offence. This needs to change now. The government WORLDWIDE need to enforce stricter laws on animal cruelty, in order to ensure our animals are looked after correctly.

Lastly, countries like Malaysia and Japan are guilty of placing at the top of the list for most likely to abuse animals. Animal cruelty laws are not as strict here; with Japan resulting in placing grade D (ranking from A - E in animal cruelty grades) which is absolutely horrific. Please take one second of your time to sign this petition and make a difference. Thank you.
