Did you know that food packaging accounts for over 40% of Australia’s total plastic usage? Did you also know, that on average, only 1% of plastic bags are recycled properly? Have you ever noticed as you walk through your local Woolworths Supermarket doing your weekly shop that your trolley is filled with unnecessary plastic wrapping? Do you realise the extremities to which the issue of plastic pollution is affecting our environment? Every year over 100,000 marine mammals die from ingestion or entanglement in plastic litter. The excessive use of unnecessary plastic wrapping on foods - such as fruits or vegetables, that come with their own, natural wrapping - is creating a desecrated environment for future generations. Join me in fighting chain store supermarkets, such as Woolworths, in ending the superfluous and needless amount of plastic wrapping being used and sign this petition.
Your signature will accompany a letter to be sent to supermarkets such as Woolworths, asking them to reduce the amount of plastic they use to better our planet for future generations.
