Staff members at Australia’s two major supermarket chains have been doing an amazing job through the last year and a half of Covid stress.
They do not get paid enough for having to deal with stressed out shoppers, rude customers, the massive volume of stock they must scan and pack, pressure from management and close proximity to huge numbers of the general public during a pandemic.

This petition is to demand that both major chains install tip jars with also contactless tap facilities at each checkout so the general public can show their appreciation to these troopers who have been in the thick of it- at minimum wage. 
Profits have gone right up for the major supermarkets during the Covid pandemic and wages for the troops on the front line have not. Not cool!

Of course I’d love the staff’s wages to be significantly increased if not doubled from the head office- that’d be a true sign of thanks and respect. But in the meantime, I’d happily chuck in a few bucks into their tin every time I was panic buying toilet paper and cheesecake. I’ve seen the rudeness, pressure and long lines they have endured. It’s time they got a reward they deserve. 
This should be in place by December 1st- in time for the Christmas madness and school holidays.
