I support the musicians. They have used their artistry and the discipline of years of practice and dedication to their craft to make the ASO one of the most celebrated orchestras and choruses in the nation. They have already taken a sizable pay cut in the last round of contract negotiations. It is time for the management to give them the kind of serious marketing and fundraising support that a world-class symphony orchestra deserves. Atlanta is always braying about being a "world-class city." Well, it's time that our civic and business leaders begin acknowledging and supporting an organization which has actually earned such a designation.
The aso is a cultural ambassador for the city of Atlanta as well as Georgia. The current financial situation has been manipulated so that money that was sent to support the ASO has been reallocated as a giant honey jar for WAC and Hepner & Hertz. Stop playing Magic Math and bring in an independent financial audit team!
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is an important part of atlanta culture. I remember going to see the ASO every year as a kid and know for a fact that they played a part in my love of music. This is something everyone deserves.
Growing up in Rochester, NY, with the rich musical culture that is fed by the Eastman School of Music and Hochstein School of music, I am beyond saddened to have had the ASO concert of Beethoven's 9th canceled! Atlanta deserves a world class orchestra that treats its members with the respect that they deserve.
