Holly Cooper started this petition to woodland trust

The Woodland Trust propose in their Joydens Wood Management Plan 2021 - 2026 to remove access from the bridleway in Joydens Wood into Chalk Woods. The deadline for the consultation phase is 25 March 2021.

Permits for the bridleway are costly, especially for the amount of land provided. They are also proposing to open more land for cyclists, whilst reducing much-needed access for horse riders. There are increasingly few places for people to ride safely, and without using dangerous roads. Were the planned closure to proceed, many users of the woods would be forced to access Chalk Woods via the roads. Some users would have no alternative but to risk theirs and their horses' safety crossing a busy dual carriageway.

A majority of local bridleway users have, for many years, incorporated Chalk Woods into a ride around Joydens Wood (given that despite its significant acreage, riders are only permitted to use a small loop of land on the bridleway), and this benefit would be lost.

The proposal can be obtained from the Woodland Trust and you can also contact them directly to object to this proposal.
