Briana DeGruttola started this petition to Woodbury Town Selectmen and

Mrs. Perkinson, Mr. Hale, Mrs. Hughes,

I am a resident and taxpayer of Woodbury, CT, and am writing to strongly oppose the Parks & Rec. Dept's plan to remove the beach at the pond at Hollow Park.

We are the only town in our area to not have a public place for children and adults to swim.

The fact that a once-usable, and widely enjoyed town resource and asset has been allowed to deteriorate in such a manner is an absolute disgrace, and should be rectified as soon as possible.
If the P&R dept. has the funds to remove the beach, they have the funds to dig out the pond and make it useable: perhaps they can use their new $10-15K ditch digger?
I question the motives behind the initial closing of the swimming area at the pond at Hollow Park: a sign was posted on the fence stating it was closed due to non-existent "budget cuts." Since when do budget cuts occur in the middle of a year?
Why was this supposed issue of lack of funds not properly planned for, or put into a proposed P&R dept. budget plan for the year it closed, or any other following year?

Woodbury residents and taxpayers are NOT OK with the closing of the swimming area at the pond at Hollow Park, and we strongly disagree with the plan to further deteriorate this important town asset.
