Won't you get tough on bank charges

Banks will collect a record $38 billion in overdraft and other fees this year, double the 2008 amount. While there's nothing wrong with banks making money, this windfall comes on the backs of customers hit hardest by the recession- people in deep trouble because of job losses and foreclosures. This is patently unfair.  Banks are already walking off with billions in taxpayer dollars and continuing to pay huge executive salaries and bonuses. They are still making dubious investments and hiding losses incurred during the burst of the deregulation bubble last year. It's time to put the brakes on all of these practices.
