Here’s little background about my story and why the Overturning of Roe VS Wade is a complete and total violation of women's rights and a total violation to our bodies. This goes much further than just abortion.

Here’s some of my back story:

In 2012 at 21 years of age I was pressured and forced into an unnecessary hysterectomy for endometriosis by a doctor who claimed I’d be “pain free” and that it was the only way to “get rid of” my endometriosis all while being on a bunch of pharmaceutical drugs including: opioids in the category of antipsychotics, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, pain medications, and the Deprom Lupron without add back therapy. Instead, of add back therapy I was on a form of estrogen called Premarin which made my endometriosis much worse. Knowing about my mental health state and how bad my depression was, he STILL denied my right to other treatment options and my request for a referral with a specialist for a second opinion. My referral to a specialist was denied because he said those doctors would tell me the same thing. I was promised that I’d be “pain free” and that it was the only way to “get rid of” my endometriosis, either that or to get pregnant and I was nowhere near ready to be a mom at that time. I’m now dealing with even more health issues and have been extremely sick sense. It’s gotten so bad that I now have a possible autoimmune disorder and widespread body pain everyday, and a possible tumor in my brain that is caused by hormonal changes in my body due to everything that happened with my reproductive system. I will now have to have constant continued care with a long list of doctors, specialists, therapists, and psychiatrists for the rest of my life to my condition and this includes medications, birth control/estrogen, and new and upcoming scans and ultrasounds that I have to get. 600,000 women get hysterectomies each year and 18% of those are deemed unnecessary where other treatment options and referrals were denied and weren’t even offered. This is happening more and more to younger women and it’s only getting worse.

Women have a right to referrals, second opinions, other medical treatment options, but most importantly, safe and adequate care and the right to the decisions we make regarding OUR OWN BODIES. Women face hormonal changes, cancer, abnormalities, autoimmune disorders, and some of these things are all related to our reproductive system. By taking away abortion, by taking away access to clinics like planned parenthood, we are taking away safe contraceptive and medicine for those in need. Birth control also helps a number of female reproductive health issues such as endometriosis, PCOS, and a wide variation of other female reproductive health issues. Not every woman has access to top notch medical services or can afford insurance. These clinics give us access to the things our bodies may need. Not every woman’s body or reproductive system can handle carrying children. Because of this stupid law, planned parenthood clinics will get shut down, resources to women who can’t afford regular health care or birth control get taken away. I utilized those places when I was younger so much, especially because I couldn’t talk to my family openly about those things due to my fear of living in a small town and how people would react if they found out I was potentially pregnant and because my insurance would not cover the cost of the birth control I needed so I got it cheaper and sometimes free through planned parenthood. There were a number of times I used the plan b contraceptive pill as well as the planned parenthood hood clinic and without that I honestly don’t know what would’ve happened, especially during a time when I was sexually assaulted.
I’ve taken number of friends to get an abortion because they were not in a healthy or stable point in their life physically or mentally to go through a pregnancy and without it I’m not sure what would’ve happened. Our rights to our bodies were taken away against our will without our consent. Women’s healthcare already sucks and is a nightmare because of laws already put in place to protect dumbass doctors who fail us everyday. Now we get absolutely no say in our bodies or reproductive health? Do you know what the sexual assault rate is going to look like after this? The human trafficking? What the suicide rate and drug and alcohol rate will look like after this? Women who are trapped in abusive relationships? Women dealing or who have dealt with postpartum depression? I read in an article a while back that 34% of women have died by suicide because of postpartum depression related suicide and they’re often time turned away by their family and doctors and are often times told it’s not real. How messed up is that? This is a hard slap in the face to women in a country that claims it’s all about equality, but equality for white MEN. We are nowhere near that bar of true equality. What’s next? Not being able to speak, not being able to vote, get proper medical care because we have a vagina/uterus? We’re already underpaid, already worked to the bone and pick up the mess of those that hurt us who take no accountability and we’re told to just stay silent about all of it because we’re women. I already have so much trauma from men, now I get to sit and watch men in our government take those rights away from us, I get to sit and watch more men take advantage of women who don’t get a say in what happens to their bodies. This opens the doors for so much harm to be done and the repercussions are going to be deadly if something is not done asap.

I’ve spent over a decade of my life dealing with reproductive health issues which has also lead to even more serious physical, mental, and emotional health issues and because of my reproductive health issues I’ve spent that decade in and out of hospitals, doctors offices, treatment centers, therapist offices, in surgery, and on medication/birth controls(some of which were provided by planned parenthood because my insurance would not cover the costs and it was a safe place for me to go without judgment from family or friends.) What is happening right now is an absolute nightmare for all women. Women already deal with the lack of choices for their healthcare already due to insurance issues, financial issues/poverty, lack of support/care whether it be from family, friends, significant others, medical providers, churches, or our government, not to mention lack of knowledge from being misinformed or miseducated or not educated enough from the “trusted” medical providers we go to hoping for the best possible outcome when it comes to OUR BODIES. I’ve been advocating for womens healthcare rights since mine were taken away over a decade ago by a dumbass male doctor who didn’t provide safe or adequate reproductive healthcare and has been protected by stupid ass laws. It goes much further and much deeper than that, but It’s been a fight ever since he performed my unnecessary hysterectomy. I will advocate and fight for women’s rights to be given back when it comes to this and for women going through this right now as well. I’ve been talking to congress in Florida for the last 8 months trying to get things changed so we have the rights to make our OWN decisions when it comes to OUR bodies. This means OUR rights to referrals, medications, and safe procedures when it comes to our reproductive health and our overall women’s health in general. I’m not stopping and I’m going to work closer with congress in the states that I can to make sure that we have full access to these things and to OUR bodies. This only fuels my fire. I see you, I hear you, and our fight is far from over.

Help me make a change in the advocacy of women’s healthcare in order to get laws changed and put in place so we aren’t taken advantage of in a vulnerable state. WE DESERVE TO HAVE THE RIGHTS TO OUR OWN BODIES AND REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM.
