Self-defence. In my opinion the laws on self-defence in the Uk are very limited. No non lethal weapons are allowed, but what about the vulnerable people? Woman who work night shifts or coming back from the bar after a drink? People who are unable to protect themselves from predators? Without being able to defend ourselves, how are we meant to survive? A predator who is four times as big as you and twice the weight as you is trying to attack you, what do you do? You don’t stand a chance. If only we legalise pepper sprays for self-defence use only, it would give is enough time to run away from the predator and get help. It is 2023, we shouldn’t be scared to walk the streets alone! More than 95% of woman are scared to walk alone at night. We shouldn’t live in constant fear of potential sexual assault and any other crimes. Legalising pepper sprays could be life saving. It’s better to save a life then to worry about the predictors eyes which will burn for 15 minutes. Now we are choosing 15 minutes over someone’s life. Choose wisely.
