Dear United Nations Correspondents Association,

As you may know, there has been an ongoing humanitarian crisis and protest in Iran in the aftermath of the weeks long protests following the murder of Mahsa Amini at the hands of the Islamic Republic’s so called “Morality” Police. People of Iran, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity, and class led by the Women of Iran, have been bravely protesting for weeks nationwide, despite the violent crackdown by the police and militia, fighting for their basic rights and the termination of the autonomy of the current regime. Nationwide as well as worldwide protests have been held and Iranians are chanting woman, life, freedom (Persian: زن، زندگی، آزادی) to spread global awareness for their civil rights. Many Iranian journalists and photographers have been detained in Iran including Niloofar Hamedi and Elahe Mohammadi who have been subject to torture and denied an attorney. We are truly afraid for their lives.

 

As a member of UNCA and the Iranian Photographers Society (Negareh.photo), I’m writing to you to call for action on condemning the arrests of Iranian journalists and photographers. On behalf of the Iranian Photographers Society (Negareh.photo), I ask for UNCA to be the voice of the voiceless by using the UNCA platform in demanding the release and safety of arrested journalists and photographers. Journalists and photographers should be able to provide reports with no fear for their life and persecution. Also, we should raise awareness among UN correspondences regarding the humanitarian crisis in Iran to place pressure on the Iranian government for their release.

‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍‍همانطور که می دانید، پس از اعتراضات چند هفته ای که بعد از قتل مهسا امینی به دست پلیس موسوم به «گشت ارشاد» جمهوری اسلامی، یک بحران انسانی در ایران رخ داده و همچنان ادامه دارد. مردم ایران بدون در نظر گرفتن جنسیت، سن، قومیت و طبقه به رهبری زنان ایران، هفته هاست که با وجود سرکوب خشونت آمیز نیروی انتظامی و شبه نظامیان، شجاعانه در سراسر کشور اعتراض می کنند و برای حقوق اولیه خود و پایان دادن به رژیم خودمختار فعلی مبارزه می کنند. تظاهرات سراسری و جهانی برگزار شده و ایرانیان برای گسترش آگاهی جهانی برای حقوق شهروندی خود شعار زن، زندگی، آزادی سر می دهند. بسیاری از عکاسان ایرانی در ایران دستگیر شده و در خطر اعدام قرار دارند.

 

 من به عنوان یکی از اعضای UNCA و یکی از اعضای عکاس خبرنگاران ایرانی(negareh.photo)، برای شما می نویسم تا در راستای محکومیت دستگیری خبرنگاران ایرانی اقدامی انجام دهید. از طرف عکاس خبرنگاران ایرانی (negareh.photo)، از UNCA می‌خواهم با استفاده از پلتفرم خود در خواست آزادی عکاسان دستگیر شده و تامین امنیت آنها، و صدای بی‌صداها باشد. عکاسان باید بتوانند بدون ترس و پیگرد قانونی قادر به ارائه گزارش باشند. همچنین باید در میان مکاتبات سازمان ملل در مورد بحران انسانی در ایران آگاهی ایجاد کنیم تا از این طریق دولت ایران برای آزادی آنها تحت فشار قرار گیرد.
