Maintain horizontal tutoring groups within Wolverhampton Girls High School

This petition had 378 supporters

As all students have recently been made aware, a new 'vertical tutoring system' is being put in place from September 2017. The initial reaction from the majority of students states that this is clearly unnecessary and will in no way improve the students stability or sense of community. As members of a current form, three years into our education here at WGHS and about to begin our GCSEs, we strongly believe that this is an uncalled for 'change'. Within current form groups there is an unbelievably strong family orientated bond; through a 'vertical tutoring system' these bonds will be irreplaceably broken as all pupils will be amongst wider age groups (years 7-13). This idea offers no pupil choice against the change and has already hugely negatively affected the mindset of our community. In current 'horizontal tutor groups' we have bonded with 28 other girls, creating a 'sisterly bond'. There is no need to change this, as new bonds will be almost impossible to form. Across years 7-13, all students will experience 4-5 departing students and 4-5 new students each year, possibly causing extreme distress and upset. We strongly urge you to sign this petition, as a student, parent or public reader, as all signatures will greatly increase our opportunity to maintain the current horizontal tutoring system, and increas the impact of the student voice. Thankyou for your support- two students of Wolverhampton Girls High School.
