Support NCS's Unveil Campaign to increase awareness for forced marriages and support for those victimised.

In 2013, 1302 vulnerable victims were forced into marriage. 73% of the victims were below the age of 21. 1 in 9 victims were from the West Midlands region. But did you know that forced marriages became a criminal offence on 16th June 2014?
Unveil Campaign was created and is run by Team Ward of the National Citizen Service. We believe in increasing awareness for this criminal offence and increase community support for those victimised by it. We believe that no-one should be unwillingly forced into marriage and that everyone in our community should be supporting those who are, because someone down your own street could have been or pontentially will be forced into marriage behind closed doors.
Support is out there for anyone to reach out and use, such as the Forced Marriage Unit, Women's Aid and Karma Nirvana. The latter was set up by Jasvinder Sanghera, the successful author of Shame and Daughters Of Shame; and victim of forced marriage at just the age of 14. She was lucky enough to escape her forced marriage, but she had no support when it happened.
But, today, you do.
By signing our petition, you will be directly supporting our campaign to increase awareness for what forced marriage is, how it differs from other types such as arranged marriage, what kind of suffering and abuse victims undergo, what charities and organisations are out there and help you help the victims.
So please sign this petition and help us unlock closed doors to help us reduce (and hopefully eliminate) forced marriage.
