Say NO to housing on the Wolverhampton Environment Centre, the WEC – it is in breach of the Tettenhall Neighbourhood Plan.
14 houses are planned on the WEC. Housing will bring artificial lights, noise and air pollution as well as traffic right into the middle of the Local Nature Reserve, the only LNR in Wolverhampton.
The Railway Walk from Aldersley through the LNR to Castlecroft and beyond is enjoyed by walkers, joggers and cyclists as well as dog-owners and parents with children. It is traffic-free, peaceful and the air is clean. It is an ideal environment for healthy exercise. An access road to the housing will cross the walk bringing traffic and pollution.
In a local referendum in 2014 residents voted for the Tettenhall Neighbourhood Plan, the TNP, to protect our green spaces. 78% of respondents to a household survey called for no residential development on the WEC. Once planning permission is given for housing on this green space the TNP will offer little protection against future applications for housing development.
